So, how to blog a day at the hospital when you are not the patient?
Because, quite honestly, it's rather long. Rather tedious.
It involves waiting. Then, some more waiting. And, then, yeah...more waiting.
I people watched; it would make great reality tv in some cases. People quite forgot they were in a public place, or maybe they just didn't care. At any rate, I didn't have to strain to hear anyone's conversation. In fact, I had to try to find someplace where I wouldn't hear about someone's girlfriend who was just up to no good. No good at all!
I also did suduko, crossword puzzles, read blogs, read email, etc. etc. etc.
Eventually, I began to mentally write this post.
What to call it? Phil's knees? Nah, didn't have a ring to it, and we all know, you need a catchy title.
And this is where my mind wandered to the "Bees' Knees."
And, since I had an ipad, free internet, and plenty of time....plenty of time...I decided to research the "Bees' Knees."
Yup, they have them. Knees, that is. Turns out the spaces/connections between the segments on their legs, can be called knees.
Segmented legs, huh? I had to research that, so I found a photo of a bee that I had taken.
Which took lots of time, finding the photo, that is. But, time I had, and I found it.
Yup, segmented legs!
Found out they have elbows, too.
And, then I had to research how this expression came to be. (Ugh, pardon that inadverant pun.)
Turns out, that "The Bees' Knees" originally meant something small or insignificant. Which bees' knees are. Made sense. Turns out that bees also have hairy sorts of baskets on their legs, which is where they carry the pollen. See how much smarter I am?
And, then somewhere along the way, it came to mean something really cool. No one seemed to know how/why this shift occured, but occur it did.
Internets are marvellous things, aren't they?
Oh, yeah, the patient did just fine. He now has a knee knee, made of titanium and some fancy polymer plastic.
Turns out he is the 6 million penny man! (And, if you are not of a certain age, that saw a certain tv show, you won't get that reference at all.)
