Masses of heavy dark grey skies, and then, the heavens simply opened up and let loose.
Dense sheets of rain thundered from the skies, nearly erasing everything else from sight.
Branches whipped around, the heavy limbs entangling themselves...trees bent over in agony.
The lights blinked once, twice, and the electricity conceded defeat.
A tiny red triangle on my phone informed me of a severe alert, that a tornado warning remained in effect.
Five minutes later, the powers that be cancelled the warning; the rain and wind lessened.
And, later yet, with only a gentle stream of rain falling, I ventured outside to a quiet, hushed world, and spied this little fellow.
We regained power about 6 hours later.
Now, as I type this in the early hours of today, I can see blue skies and sunshine and breathe in the cool crisp autumn air.
Mother Nature is rather menopausal, I think.

Strong, breathtaking, descriptive writing here Paula. I could feel it. I'm glad that nothing "serious" happened...and sometimes just knowing the potential for something worse is enough to make us realize how fragile we are here on this earth.

Wonderful!!!
That stillness after a storm is something else, isn't it?
Love this.
